Coastal Style Art (Guest post from Design Shuffle)

Hi there! I’m Joanna, a writer for Design Shuffle, where interior designers share their portfolios and design enthusiasts find decorating images and ideas. I have the perfect job. I get to spend my work hours cruising around the Internet finding the most incredible decorating ideas and sharing them with blog readers like you. Thanks to Be Inspired Live Inspired for allowing me share with you today. While seaside cottages and sunny beach homes offer the perfect place for decorating with coastal style artwork, you can bring your own slice of sea and surf to the suburbs or city for a year round tropical feel. I hope the following rooms will give you some decorating ideas to make your own. Coastal Style Art A navy outdoor living area gets a touch of the sea with an assortment of coastal wall accessories, along with cool little sailboats and lovely Chinoiserie elements. Coastal Style Art A beach decal sends a festive message saying, “It’s time to hit the sea and sand.” Coastal Style Art Mimicking the ocean, modern art prints bring the beach inside. The surf board leaning on the wall is a nice beachy touch. I love this coastal interior design. Coastal Style Art I love this pelican print topped by a bronze fish. Proof coastal décor can be as fun as it is chic, don't you think? Coastal Style Art An abstract painting fills the wall of this gorgeous beach home. The dolphin sculpture hanging from the ceiling is incredible. Coastal Style Art Art doesn’t necessarily have to be on the wall in a coastal home, shells make perfect works of art when placed on tables and shelves. For instance, the starfish pictured here. Coastal Style Art I’ve seen this triptych several times in different rooms and fall in love with all over again. It has a Captain Nemo feel to it. I could take these interior design ideas and run with them. Coastal Style Art Seahorses and a mermaid play above the fireplace. Palm leaves act as art when placed in a little niche such as this. Feelin' Crabby?

As most of you know, the hubby-to-be and I relocated to the Gulf Coast... I love being close to the salt water, although I don't make it there nearly enough. (Planning to change that soon!) Anyhow, even though interior design and art is my ultimate passion (fingers crossed for more clients in the near future!), I do however work at a restaurant on the beach, (Hey! A gal has to pay her bills!) So, the other day I walked past the most beautiful plate of Stone Crab Legs.... now, I have to be honest... I don't eat crab legs. Of any kind. (I actually just started eating crab cakes!!) But the colors gleaming of these crabby gams got my inspiration wheels turning...

Look at the beautiful colors of cream, corals, reds, oranges and black in the Stone Crab legs! You guessed it... here are some Stone Crab inspired designs! :)

This living room sings sunshine! Although, I wish they would have used a great rug to pull it all together...

This hall has an interesting surprise, I love the red frames, rather than the expected black frames:

This image of the Henredon showroom is fantastic! I love the light and airy feeling from the use of colors and the fantastic contrasts from those stunning Barbara Barry chairs. (They are one of my favorites of her pieces!)

So what do you think? Are you feelin' crabby? ;)
