Local Business Spotlight: The Living Room on Main (Dunedin, FL)

Alrighty, ladies and gents, this is a super cool joint. I just got home and few hours ago, and couldn't wait to blog about it. First, let me start out by saying I have never been to Dunedin, FL before, and honestly didn't really know what to expect. A handful of people have told me that I would love it and that it's a totally artsy small town area. But, boy oh boy, was I not let down!! This little town is full of charm and I loved every little square inch of it! I honestly didn't get to explore that much, I was meeting a friend at The Living Room on Main for a charity event for Healing Heroes (if you haven't heard of Healing Heroes, go check it out, it's a great organization that I was happy to support!)  But I plan on visiting the great little town of Dunedin very soon!

So this lovely little place, The Living Room on Main, is a quaint space, full of character and of course, delicious wine and other treats. I ate and drank light, but enjoyed every second of my experience of The Living Room. (the crab cakes were scrumptious!) Being an interior designer and recently relocating back from the great city of Chicago, I am always on the prowl for great little locally owned places that I can enjoy with friends, The Living Room has worked it's way to one of the top slots on my list. It really does feel like your are enjoying a glass of wine in someones living room. A few things that caught my attention that I must point out, they have a great use of art and accessories throughout, I love the plum walls, oh and ladies... here is a big plus... the bathroom stalls are FULL closing doors, not scrawny little bathroom stalls, actual doors! I personally thought that was a nice detail that they added. I am sure every time I visit I will find something else that I love, as will you.

Sadly, my camera battery died and I was unable to get photos of the beautiful space, so I relied on trusty ol' Facebook for photos... so enjoy the ambiance through these photos, but make sure you make it a point to visit this place yourself. You will not be let down! And as always, support local business, they are the brick and mortar of our country!! :)

Coastal Love

Yesterday, I was driving to work and it was such a beautiful day here in Indian Rocks Beach, FL. The sun was shining and the water was glistening. It looked like someone just threw glitter in the bay. It brought an instant smile to my face and I felt cheery all day.

Throughout the day I was thinking of beautiful coastal inspired interiors and I haven't been able to shake this stunning color palette. I love the beautiful green and blue hues...

Little Miss Muffet, sat on her.... tufting??

I love furniture, well quite frankly, more than I love shoes. In my opinion you can build a story in your interior through your furniture. Classic pieces and stories of where you found a certain item will fill your halls and bring a smile for years. And well shoes... let's be honest, sometimes they provide nothing more than a lousy blister.

Since the fiance and I have moved into our new home (which is way more ample in space than our tiny Chicago apartment) I have been dreaming of what to fill the new square footage with. Well, I just can't get my mind off of a comfy tufted sofa.

This living room is full of character! I love the large collection of vintage posters of all sorts of sizes and shapes. Mixed with the Chesterfield and modern furniture it creates kind of a fun, airy living space.

Or, why not upholster a whole tufted sofa in a printed textile? Combined with a fun wall color, I think it looks pretty fresh and exciting!

I can't get enough of this next mid century modern living room. It's dripping in my personal style! This Chesterfield sofa covered in this rich green leather is so handsome, I am just itching to cozy up on it with a great book and cozy blanket!

Seeing Spots

Usually, when I think of Cheetah print, I automatically think of the cheap dress Julia Roberts wore in Pretty Woman. I do like animal print, infused into fashion and interiors... but I have never been fond of the Cheetah.


So it came to my surprise when I was flipping pages through an Architectural Digest magazine, that I came to a screeching halt with this stunna of a dining room. I couldn't believe it. I actually liked Cheetah!! And it isn't in small doses, it's in full drapery panels! So I had to share this gem of a dining room owned and designed by perfume master Frédéric Malle...

After seeing this, I also recalled a great installation at the 2010 Dream Home in the Merchandise Mart that I also liked...

So maybe I was wrong, and I do like Cheetah after all? Maybe I will start slowly by adding it into my wardrobe and see where it goes from there...

Catching Up...

Sincere apologies to all of my followers, I have been slacking in the blogging department. Big things are happening and I have fallen behind!

First and foremost, the fiance and I have relocated back to the Sunshine state... we miss Chicago dearly, and it will always hold a huge part of our hearts, but we are excited to start this new chapter in the Tampa area. He is working for the Tampa Police Dept. and I am getting the ducks in a row for Lisa Gilmore Design, (accepting clients now, so please send referrals my way!)

Along with getting settled and adjusting back to the warm weather, (No complaints here! Although, I do miss my scarves!) I have been busy painting some sweet little doggies... most of them are Christmas present orders, so I can't post any images of them until a later date, but here is an example of some of the work I have been up to.
